Arriving at 4 and getting off to a horrible start, nearly an hour behind schedule, we began milking. I had not obtained the training to operate the barn cleaner, so I had not touched it all night. Seeing this, the head farmer ventured out and began operating it. This is where the night got good.
I had been warned prior to, that Shithead did not get the cows as clean as they need to be, which is why he's been working there for 5+ years, without ever getting a promotion. Which to all you dairy farmers out there, means that he should not be putting milkers on. This was all understandable to me, I mean, some people are lazy, yeah, I get it.
Working around the barn cleaner, I was prepping and re-prepping (Those previously done by Shithead) as well putting milkers on. Then, in the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of an old man on his knees. I quickly rushed over and politely took the milker, which caused much aggravation to my hardworking partner. Angry, and quicker than I've ever seen that guy go, he rushed back to ask the head farmer if he could put milkers on.
"Id prefer you didn't.." He stated.
"I've been here 6 years! I should know what I'm doing by now!" He stated in a tone that said he was disappointed, angry, and stuck up all in one.
You can picture this guy scuffing back up the floor, as hes huffing and puffin'. Inside I hoped that he'd slip on a cow patty and fall, but no such luck. (Any other day he would have, because he always leaves the floor a mess upon letting the cows in and out. On this particular day though, I had cleaned the floor prior to, so that I myself would not slip and fall.)
Shithead approached me, ranted, then took off in a fuss. I laughed and kept going.
Lesson of the day: Leave the barn floor a mess in hopes that Shithead will slip and learn a lesson.
Quote of the day: "I've been here 6 years, I should know what I'm doing!" (Key word, "should")
